Roger Burrows IMAGESAbout The Author

Roger Burrows is a British writer, inventor, and product designer, working in the fields of geometry, print and digital technologies, and interactive learning products for children. He is best known for his series of geometric design books, Images, developed from a geometry of close packing spheres that he first invented in the 1960’s and also for Altair Designs, published in the early 1970’s, developed with Dr. Ensor Holiday. In the 1960’s and 1970’s Roger designed the Wales Tomorrow exhibition for the Investiture of the Prince of Wales, and exhibited geometrical works for the Arts Council of Great Britain, and at the Architectural Association in London.

Roger was born in Evesham, Worcestershire, England, and attended Four Pools School. He later went onto Cheltenham Technical College, Brighton College of Advanced Technology, St. Paul’s College, and the University of London. During the 1970’s Roger continued his work as an author, taught mathematics at the Deepings School in Deeping St. James, Lincolnshire, and gave guest lectures, on geometry, at the Architectural Association in London, and at various universities for the National Association of Teachers of Mathematics.

In the early 1980’s Roger moved to Los Angeles to work for his US publisher, Price, Stern, Sloan, Publishers Inc., and developed Questron, an interactive book and electronic "wand" system for children that became a top bestseller for Random House. In the 1990’s he developed the Booktronics line for Reader’s Digest Young Families, and invented Magnix, a print based technology that makes paper, card, and plastic magnetically interactive. During the 2000’s Roger invented and developed other technologies including Photo Q (a way of printing high resolution images on fabric), Brightlights (a way of printing light emitting inks on paper and plastic), and many other technologies.

Roger moved to Park City, Utah, from Wilton, Connecticut, in December 2010, and continues to develop his geometry of close packing spheres and also continues his study of the geometrical systems of times past. He is a partner of Sandvik Innovations LLC and was the lead product and technology developer for that company up to 2010. Roger has recently started a higher technology company called iX2 that develops interactive learning products that interface with the digital world - using various technologies.

As a product developer Roger has created many best selling interactive learning products for companies around the world including, Disney, Scholastic, Random House, Simon and Schuster, Price/Stern/Sloan, Egmont, Ravensburger, Hachette, Gallimard, Nathan, Discovery Toys, Harper Collins, Intervisual, Kadansha, Frobel Kan, Mondadori, Readers Digest, and Running Press.
